The Iraq invasion was planned early in the Clinton administration based upon a white paper drafted by Rumsfeld and Wolfowitz. Later, in 1998 at a meeting with then 'governor' Dumbya, Mssrs. Cheney, Rumsfeld and Wolfowitz informed him that he was going to be the next president and they discussed the Iraq invasion strategy. In the story I saw (Frontline, January 2003) Cheney is quoted as saying - 'Don't worry about McCain - or Gore, for that matter - we'll take care of them. There will be plenty of money and sufficient influence where necessary.'
