The real count is now over 1800. The reason you don't see the real combat casualty count is because in Iraq, only those who die at the location they were wounded are counted. If a soldier is wounded but is being transported to a medical facility or makes it there or dies anytime at a later date is no longer counted as a combat casualty. That is why you are seeing these large non-combat casualty numbers. "
