While I'm pleased that Nancy Reagan has come out of the closet, so to speak, in favor of stem cell research, the sad reality is that she probably never would have --had it not been for her husband's Alzheimers.
And that's the difference between Republicans and Democrats.
Republicans are FAR less likely to take up a cause unless it directly affects THEM. If it doesn't, then they couldn't care less.
Democrats are far more altruistic, and are willing to fight for the rights and causes of others.
